Types of REDCap User Accounts
There are two types of REDCap User Accounts, each with their own specific purpose and use. Staff should consider carefully which User Accounts are needed for their work.
Production Server User Account
The REDCap Production Server is the regulated environment where the REDCap Projects of approved research activities are hosted, and where research data collection activities are conducted.
Users will need to have a Production Server User Account if they are involved in the Study's data collection activities conducted in a REDCap Project.
Staging Server User Account
The REDCap Staging Server is the sandbox environment intended for ONLY TESTING and LEARNING purposes.
While Users may freely create Projects on the Staging Server for testing and learning purposes, they are PROHIBITED from collecting, importing or entering any actual/real/live data on the Staging Server, including for testing purposes.
All detected non-compliant activities will be reported to the relevant NHG oversight committees.
Staging Server User Accounts are optional.
