How do I import data into my REDCap Project?

REDCap allows you to import data in bulk using a CSV file, which is useful when you have existing data collected outside of REDCap that you want to bring into your project.

To do this, navigate to "Data Import Tool" in the left-hand menu, then download the provided CSV template to ensure your data is formatted correctly — the column headers must match your REDCap field names exactly.

Once your file is ready, upload it and REDCap will first run a validation check to flag any errors before committing the data.

Prerequisites: You must have been assigned the appropriate project user-rights or role before you can import data into a project.
