[ URGENT ] NHG-REDCap to shut down for urgent maintenance

Both REDCap Production and Staging Servers will be unavailable from 6pm, 22 Oct 2026 to 10am, 27 Oct 2026. Learn what NHG-REDCap Users need to do immediately and what to prepare for.

(A) WHAT THIS IS ABOUT

  • Due to a recent critical cyber-security alert, we are required to take immediate steps to upgrade and secure our REDCap Servers. (See here for more information (opens in new tab))

  • Both the Production Server and Staging Server will be SHUT DOWN to facilitate this work to ensure that NHG-REDCap continues to operate securely and reliably.


(B) WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

  • This announcement to inform all REDCap Users of the pending Shutdown period, how this will impact their Production Server Projects and Data Collection activities and what Users need to do to prepare for the Shutdown Period.

  • We urge all REDCap Users, in particular REDCap Project Owners (ie: Study PIs), take note of the Shutdown period and plan their research data collection activities around it.


 (C) WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN

  •  The REDCap Production Server Shutdown Period will begin immediately today FROM 6 PM,  22 OCT 2026 and will END ON 10  AM 27 OCT 2026.

  • In addition, Users must be prepared for a possible extension of the Shutdown Period due to unforeseen difficulties during the maintenance.

(D) HOW YOU ARE AFFECTED

  •  There will be NO USER ACCESS to BOTH the PRODUCTION SERVER and the STAGING SERVER during the Shutdown period.

  • All REDCap Production Server activities will NOT BE AVAILABLE to Users, including but not limited to:

    • Data Entry

    • Project Design and Editing

    • Project Change Requests and Implementation

    • New Account Requests, and New Account Activation

    • Suspended Account Re-Activation

    • New Project requests

  • Users will need to assess, plan and implement alternative manual data capture workflows if there is a need to continue with data collection activities during the shutdown period.


 (E) IMMEDIATE ACTION - WHAT USERS NEED TO DO

  1. Cease all data entry activities on the Production Server immediately.

  2. Download the PDF copy of your data entry forms for each REDCap Project in the Production Server

  3. Download the full dataset of your REDCap Project on the Production Server.
